Seth Rogen, comedian and actor, married Lauren Miller who comes from a family that suffers with Alzheimer’s. Lauren’s mother was diagnosed with the disease at age 55. Rogen saw firsthand how difficult Alzheimer’s can be for not only the person affected, but their family members as well. Rogen was quoted talking about his experience with CNN, “I think until you see it firsthand, it’s kind of hard to conceive of how brutal it is. Until I saw it, you just don’t get kind of how heartbreaking it can be.”
Hilarity for Charity is a movement that Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller created to raise Alzheimer’s awareness. The movement raises awareness for the disease and also funding to help benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Hilarity for Charity has partnered with Home Instead Senior Care and provides grants for in-home Alzheimer’s care at no cost for families who care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other forms of severe dementia. So far, Home Instead Senior Care franchises across the U.S. and Canada have pledged 37,000 hours of in-home care services to help supplement the monetary funding provided by Hilarity for Charity. The pledged hours of in-home care services are valued at over $740,000.
